Consultancy for athletes and sports clubs
Support for athletes, teams and staff that integrates assessment, monitoring, load management and injury risk reduction strategies throughout the sporting season, with the aim of supporting both availability and performance.
Working with the team
Consultancy supports the whole season, not just a single problem
In practice, I usually support teams through athlete assessment and monitoring across the season, integrating relevant clinical and functional information with the demands of training and competition.
In addition, this work is shared with the staff to provide practical guidance on injury risk reduction, load management and progression of activity, adapted to the team environment, competition schedule and individual athletes.
However, the aim is not to remove risk completely, but to create a more structured process that can help reduce injury incidence where possible and support more consistent performance over time.
The pathway
Integrated work with athletes and staff
For this reason, the consultancy is adapted to the club structure, available resources and the demands of the season.
Context analysis
First, we look at the sport, team level, competition schedule, available resources and the staff’s priorities.
Athlete assessment
Next, we identify which clinical and functional information is useful for understanding athlete profiles and individual needs.
Shared planning
Together with the staff, we establish practical criteria for injury risk reduction, load management, recovery and progression.
Monitoring
Across the season, we review athlete status and the information that can help guide changes when required.
Review
Finally, the process is adjusted according to team response, injuries, player availability and competitive demands.
Goals
Fewer isolated decisions, more continuity across the season
Overall, the value of consultancy lies in creating shared criteria that help staff and athletes make more consistent decisions over time.
Injury risk reduction
Integrate realistic risk-reduction strategies within training and the team’s normal routine.
Load management
Interpret and adjust activity demands according to athlete response and the stage of the season.
Staff communication
Share useful criteria and guidance across medical, performance and coaching staff.
Performance
Support training continuity, athlete availability and the physical qualities required by the sport.
