Online physiotherapy consultation and supervision
Remote physiotherapy support to plan, organise and progress an individualised exercise and rehabilitation programme, including when regular in-person sessions are not practical.
Remote support
Online physiotherapy still starts with the individual
An online consultation is not simply a list of exercises. The starting point is understanding your situation, goals, the activities you want to return to, your training environment and the resources available to you.
The first step is to establish whether your goals, situation and the type of support you need can be managed appropriately online. If remote support is suitable, we can then build a programme around your time, space, equipment and lifestyle.
Not every situation is appropriate for online management. When in-person care would be more suitable, the consultation can also help direct you towards a physiotherapist who is closer to you and better matched to your specific needs.
The pathway
First, establish whether online care is the right option
The pathway starts by considering whether remote management is appropriate and, when it is, continues with planning and ongoing supervision.
Initial discussion
We start with your situation, goals, the activities you want to return to and the type of support you need.
Suitability for online care
We consider whether remote management is appropriate or whether in-person care with a physiotherapist better matched to your needs would be preferable.
Planning
If online care is appropriate, we build an individualised programme covering exercise selection, frequency, load and progression.
Supervision
We periodically review the programme, your response to exercise and any difficulties, adjusting what is needed over time.
Independence
The aim is to make you progressively more confident and independent in managing exercise, load and programme progression.
Goals
Online support should make rehabilitation easier to manage
The value of remote supervision is maintaining direction, progression and continuity.
Have a clear direction
Understand what to do, why you are doing it and which goals you are working towards.
Adapt the programme
Adjust exercises, load and progression according to your actual response over time.
Fit rehabilitation into life
Build a programme that works around your job, training, space and available equipment.
Become more independent
Develop practical criteria and tools to manage exercise and activity with greater confidence.
